Motion:
“That ICPA Qld continues to advocate to the Department of Education (DoE) to ensure disruptions in Schools of Distance Education and rural and remote schools are reduced, particularly those arising from ongoing Acting Principal appointments.”
Explanation:
Acting positions in Schools of Distance Education and rural and remote schools are not an isolated issue. The instability created by acting or temporary appointments — particularly in executive roles — intensifies as these arrangements are extended, sometimes for years. Prolonged acting principal appointments create uncertainty for schools, their communities, and the individuals in those roles, ultimately undermining confidence in the position, the school’s leadership and the Department.
